Winter Skin Blues?
Winter is officially here and we have all started feeling the effects of it already. Dry and sensitive skin is one of the number one complaints this time of year that I hear. Typically, your skin issues in the summer are not the same as the ones you have in the winter, so why use all the same products? You might have to substitute a few to help alleviate that winter skin.
Some of my favorites to use and recommend in the Dermalogica line are the ones in the ultracalming line. Ultracalming cleanser is a great one to use in the winter when you are starting to see some redness and sensitivity in your face. Almost that chapped feeling. The gel cream cleanser will soothe any irritation and redness while helping to rebuild the moisture that you have lost.Â
If you are outside a lot, maybe an avid runner or skier, a good product to pair with the cleanser is barrier repair. A silicone based moisturizer that actually provides a barrier to your skin from the harsh environmental elements. Use it every morning during cold and windy days and you will see a big difference in that winter skin feeling.Â
Maybe you’re just feeling a little drier but haven’t really had any sensitivity. A good pairing would be the essential cleansing solution and intensive moisture balance. Essential cleanser is a creamy cleanser that helps to replenish dry skin and maintain moisture levels in the skin. Â
Intensive moisture balance is a rich moisturizer containing vitamin E that will keep the skin feeling soft and hydrated without that greasy feeling. How about those hands though! I know mine get so terrible as soon as it gets a little colder. Â
Dermalogica has a hand and nail moisturizer that using daily I have noticed a huge difference. Not a single bit of cracking. The fast absorbing, non-greasy lotion soothes dryness, helps with nail peeling, and keeps signs of aging on the hands away. Keep it on your nightstand and use a little every night before bed!Â
Dermalogica has lots of different products to help with the harsh winters of New England that you can mix and match for your own personal best results. Don’t forget to also keep drinking plenty of water, keeping yourself hydrated from the inside out, it is very important.
